Flying cars?!; Bob Gale's new comic

Chalk another one up for Zemeckis & Gale

Yesterday, a California-based company called Moller International unveiled a revolutionary flying car.  The "Skycar", which will hover some six feet above ground, will seat up to four people and can reach speeds upward of 600 mph.  Just like a hover-converted DeLorean time machine, the car will take off and land vertically.  To read the entire story, visit CNN.com's website.
This is another amazing example of the tremendous foresight Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale had for the future when they wrote the Back to the Future films — primarily Gale's script for BTTF2.  The announcement is just the latest prediction to come true in the past decade since Back to the Future Part II has been released.  Among these so-called predictions, are the utilization of thumbprints as signatures, the format replacement of laserdiscs, and Miami having a major-league baseball team, all of which have come to pass in the past few years.

Project updates
DAREDEVIL:  According to the ZENtertainment website, Bob Gale will be continuing his forte in the comic book realm next year, taking on additional writing assignments for Marvel Comics' Daredevil.  Earlier this year, DC Comics released a four-issue series Gale wrote for their Batman series of comics called "No Law and a New Order".

THE HOUSE OF MIRTH:  Well, it now seems that Elisabeth Shue is indeed no longer attached to the film, The House of Mirth.  According to the Mr. Showbiz website, Eric Stoltz leaves for Europe next week to begin filming with Gillian Anderson, but Shue is mentioned nowhere in the article.  Besides, all information I have still points to the fact that she is still filming The Hollow Man.

CALIFORNICATION:  Flea ("Needles"), along with his Red Hot Chili Peppers bandmates, will release their new album Californiation on June 4 via their website for free.  The full-length album will be available for downloading for preview four days before it hits stores on June 8.  The band is also the focus of VH1's Behind the Music documentary, which debuts this Sunday night.  Flea also co-stars in the independent film, Mascara, which was released in limited release earlier this month.

UNTITLED SPIELBERG/CAPSHAW PROJECT:  According to the Mr. Showbiz, Steven Spielberg and his wife Kate Capshaw are considering doing a film together, some type of mystery.  The article suggested that their only dual project is Capshaw's current film, The Love Letter, which DreamWorks distributed and is now in theaters.  However, the article failed to point out that the couple have worked together before in a more direct approach — Spielberg directed Capshaw in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, where the couple first met.  No other details were given on the proposed film they hope to team on in the future.

THE SIXTH SENSE:  The trailer for Bruce Willis' The Sixth Sense is now out.  The creepy thriller was produced by Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall, and hits theaters on September 10.  To view the medium resolution clip, visit http://www.loewscineplex.com/trailerpark/trailers/0661yy.mov.
