Lloyd of the Rings?
Christopher Lloyd rumored to be involved with Lord of the Rings Trilogy
According to a scooper to the TheOneRing.net website recently, Christopher Lloyd was spotted in a small New Zealand cafe reading a script. Speculation is that he may be there talking to director Peter Jackson (The Frighteners) about a part in the upcoming Lord of the Rings trilogy of films. While we cannot confirm his presence in New Zealand nor his possible involvement in the films at this point, it's certainly not out of the question. Lloyd's only upcoming projects we know of are Interstate 60 (to be directed by Bob Gale), and presumably Back to the Future 4 and Back to the Future 5 should they indeed progress into development. Several other films Lloyd is involved with are completed but have yet to be released. These include Man on the Moon,
Romantic Moritz, Dinner at Fred's, and Convergence.
Elisabeth Shue's Hollow role safe for now
A report earlier in the week from The Hollywood Reporter indicated that Columbia Pictures will almost certain not recast Elisabeth Shue's role in the now filming The Hollow Man. They are indeed presently shooting scenes around her absence for the next 2-3 weeks, but will most likely have to shut down production entirely for several days or weeks while she recooperates, depending upon her prognosis for recovery. Shue underwent surgery last Tuesday to reattach a torn tendon she suffered during a workout at a local gym.
Zemeckis' Showtime Documentary complete
Apparently while we weren't looking, Robert Zemeckis found time to complete his 2-hour documentary assignment for Showtime's millenium series, In the 20th Century perhaps during his filming break from Cast Away with Tom Hanks. Zemeckis, who also serves as an Executive Producer on the special, directed the feature-length documentary on smoking, drinking, and drugging in the 20th century. Through interviews with historians and professionals in the drug treatment field, interspersed with film clips, Zemeckis delves into the history of America's relationship with mind-altering substances over the past 100 years. Robert Zemeckis on Smoking, Drinking and Drugging in the 20th Century: In Pursuit of Happiness airs on Showtime in September, and was produced by long-time collaborator and partner, Steve Starkey.
