New sequel details from 'Total Film'
New magazine article adds more confusion to the mix
This just in from the Dark Horizons website. I have not yet seen the magazine article in full, since it just hit shelves in the U.K. today. I can't comment on the following report at this point beyond stating that every indication I've been given from other sources still state that the whole Roswell story is not what is planned for the next installment.
"Back to the Future 4: 'Total Film' magazine has done a report exposing some major details about plans for a fourth "Back to the Future" film. Seems Steven Spielberg came up with an idea that Doc's time-travelling flying train caused the UFO crash in Roswell 1947 - and the story revolves around Doc's attempts to rescue the aliens and their ship which has a vital component from the train. The article goes on with heaps more detail, here's just a snippet: "Without giving too much of the script away, when the UFO hit him, it rendered his vehicle incapable of time travel. Dues to an engine malfuction, he has to get back to the proverbial future and stop the nuclear fusion core of the engine imploding - an event which would wipe out New Mexico". Help also comes along in the form of Marty McFly's relatives and Doc's long-lost sister. For the full article, check out the September issue of 'Total Film'. Thanks to 'The Quest' & BackTalk.
Project updates
ATLANTIS:
In Hollywood reports that Michael J. Fox has definitely signed on to this project to voice the lead character, Milo Thatcher. Fox committed to the project on July 7, and is rumored to be joined by Mark Hamill in the cast. It'll definitely be interesting to have Marty McFly and Luke Skywalker in the same film!
WISH YOU WERE DEAD:
In Hollywood also reports that Mary Steenburgen has just signed on to this twisted love story between a hit woman and a poetry-reciting insurance investigator she's hired to kill. She joins one of the most unusual casting line-ups I've seen in quite some time, which includes Robert "Freddy" Englund, Gene Simmons of "KISS", and Billy Ray Cyrus! One extremely interesting detail omitted from In Hollywood's listing is the fact that Christopher Lloyd is also in the cast! According to Baseline, Lloyd is also attached to the project, which reteams Lloyd & Steenburgen for the first time since Back to the Future Part III wrapped in early 1990 (if you don't count the fact that they both worked on The Animated Series from 1991-93). And if all indications about the sequels are correct, this won't be the last time this pair works together! The film is set up at New Line, and
shooting is scheduled to take place in Los Angeles beginning August 16 and ending on September 20. New Line expects to have the film ready for release in December.
