Cast/Crew project updates

The latest news & gossip on upcoming cast/crew projects

Not much to report on the BTTF front right now while we await more details on the proposed sequels.  Haven't heard a word from our sources lately, so let's just hope that "no news is good news".
Meanwhile, there is a lot of activity on other projects by the cast & crew, and the very latest is posted below:

Project updates
THE HOLLOW MAN:  Apparently, production has begun once again on this film, and Elisabeth Shue has healed enough to continue her physically active role.  A scooper to Corona's Coming Attractions reported witnessing filming in Washington D.C. a few days ago in which Shue ran out of a burning warehouse in a climatic scene.  Shue was said to be limping heavily due to her recent injury, but that it made the scene even more realistic because her character is also injured in that same scene.  Another seven weeks or so remain on the shoot, which has been shut down since late June.  The Hollow Man is slated for a Summer 2000 release.

I WOKE UP EARLY THE DAY I DIED:  This long awaited film which stars Billy Zane will finally open in limited release on September 3 in New York.  The official website is now open, and sports some interesting photos of Zane in the lead role as "The Thief".  One interestingly unusual aspect of this film is the fact that there is absolutely no dialogue at all in the film!  Zane is also credited as a Producer and an Editor on the film. No word yet as to whether the film will receive a wider release for the rest of us to catch.

ROGER RABBIT II (a.k.a. WHO DISCOVERED ROGER RABBIT?):  Unfortunately, it appears that this project has indeed fizzled out.  In Hollywood has moved the film to the "Inactive" column now, so it looks like we won't be learning who discovered Roger Rabbit anytime soon. Robert Zemeckis was attached as Executive Producer, whereas Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall were committed to Producing.  Marshall had also been interested in directing the prequel.

UNTITLED SIXTH SENSE SEQUEL  Due to the enormous success of The Sixth Sense ($116 million domestically as of today), which was produced by Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall, it should be no surprise that a sequel is already being discussed.  USA Today reports that writer/director M. Night Shyamalan was approached by the film's financers if he had a seventh sense up his sleeve, to which he said, "I probably do."

WHAT LIES BENEATH:  Filming is now underway on this big budgeted thriller by Director/Producer Robert Zemeckis, and a scooper to Dark Horizons has uncovered a big detail of the largely secretive plot.  According to the report, Harrison Ford's character accidentally kills a lover he's involved with.  Although he's able to keep it a secret from his wife (Michelle Pfeiffer) and authorities, the spirit of the deceased lover won't let him forget about it.  What Lies Beneath is tentatively slated for a May 26, 2000 release.
