BTTF featured in new Universal Nintendo game
New Universal Studios game featuring the DeLorean time machine coming soon
Universal Studios recently unveiled plans for a new theme park tour game for Nintendo GameCube at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E³).
There had been some confusion last week when it had been reported by other sites that the game was about Back to the Future however, the game demo shown at E³ indicates that the game is about the Universal Studios theme parks and their characters. Back to the Future is a small part of the game, which appears to be hosted by the animated character "Woody Woodpecker". Woody drives the DeLorean time machine in the demo, and seems to use it to travel around throughout the park's attractions in the yet-to-be-released game.
The game, which is being produced by Kemco Games for the Nintendo GameCube system, apparently isn't finished at this point. Universal apparently didn't state at E³ when the game would be available, but we suspect it will be released later this year just in time for Christmas.
Below are several screen captures courtesy of IGN.com from their E³ Wrap-up coverage page:
BTTF.com's multimedia wizard Danny Pesses has taken IGN's 16MB Quicktime clip of the Universal game demo (which had no sound to it) and created a new Quicktime clip of just the Back to the Future portions with sound added back into the clip. The new 2MB demo clip (Quicktime required) can be downloaded at www.bttf.com/video/e3delorean.mov.
We have contacted Kemco for additional information on the game, but at press time had received no reply. We will continue to provide coverage on this product as more information becomes available. Stay tuned... [Thanks to IGN Cube for the video clip and thatsCLUTCH.com for making us aware of the game's announcement at E³!]
