Universal launches official BTTF website

Home Video releases teaser website to promote upcoming DVD release

Signaling a true red letter date in history, Universal Studios Home Video has launched an official website for the upcoming Back to the Future Trilogy DVD release.

BTTFMOVIE.COM screenshotBTTFMovie.com, officially launched this afternoon, serves as a teaser to whet the appetites of fans worldwide and to let them know that yes, the beloved trilogy really is coming to DVD for the first time.

Although fans won't find very much just yet at the site other than a couple dozen color photos from the series and the promise of the official teaser trailer, the sleek and stylish design remains true to the Back to the Future essence.  The launch of the site is tantalizing and very promising for fans, especially in light of recent internet rumors that the discs had been delayed until 2003 because of plans for a theatrical re-release (not true, I'm told).

In late 2001, Universal quietly registered five new domains in conjunction with the Back to the Future DVD release.  The remaining four domains — backtothefuturedvd.com, backtothefuturemovie.com, bttfdvd.com & bttfvideo.com — join other Universal previously registered domains backtothefuture2.com and backtothefuture3.com for a purpose yet to be determined, so it seems.

Regardless, we now have more official evidence that a release sometime this year is quite inevitable, and BTTFMovie.com will no doubt be rolling out new material in the weeks & months to come.  It should certainly be an interesting trip, and I for one, am very eager to see what lies ahead in the near Future.  Stay tuned...
