No shortage of work for Hill Valley alums
They say you can't keep a good McFly down, and judging from all the film & television projects and personal appearances we've got by the cast & crew of the BTTF Trilogy today, we'd say that's about right. Here's the "Cliff's Notes" condensed version of what's going on in Hill Valley...
According to The Hollywood Reporter, DreamWorks is in negotiations to acquire the film rights to CrossGen's newly published horror comic book "Route 666" for Robert Zemeckis' studio-based ImageMovers.
Other film properties Zemeckis has recently signed on to produce between ImageMovers and his other production company, Dark Castle Entertainment, include White Death, Deathwatch, Gothika, The Reaping, and a remake of House of Wax.
According to Variety, Columbia Pictures chairman Amy Pascal confirmed at the premiere of Michael J. Fox's Stuart Little 2 on July 14 that there will indeed be a Stuart Little 3. However, that comment was made prior to the film's opening, and with the unexpected dismal box office the sequel has accumulated ($47.8 million so far), the tentative third film's future may be at stake given the reported $130 million price tag of the current sequel.
According to Variety's Army Archard, Michael J. Fox is busy writing his second book a follow-up to his wildly successful autobiography Lucky Man when he's not at work for his Parkinson's Foundation. No premise nor expected release date for the new book was given.
Tom Wilson will have a recurring role this Fall on The WB's new comedy series, Do Over. Tom portrays the high school gym coach of lead character Joel Larsen from his youth in 1981 where he's accidentally been transported. The show has been described as a cross between Back to the Future and Freaks and Geeks, both of which Tom starred in.
Tom also appears in an upcoming episode of NBC's new action series, She Spies.
Bob Gale's feature film directorial debut, Interstate 60 is gettting rave reviews from fans who attended recent screenings of the unique film and Q&A sessions with the Writer/Director/Producer. The film features appearances by Christopher Lloyd and Michael J. Fox, and was co-produced by Neil Canton. Interstate 60 is expected in theaters this November.
In the MSN Live Celebrity Chat with Lea Thompson following the debut of her new Lifetime Television series For the People, she revealed that the film deal for her expected directorial debut Wounded had fallen through, but that she hoped to direct a few episodes of For the People later on in the season.
Crispin Glover recently wrapped filming as the title role in Willard for New Line Cinema, a remake of the original 1971 horror film which is expected to arrive in theaters sometime next year.
Glover is currently filming Charlie's Angels 2: Halo for Columbia Pictures, reprising his role as "The Thin Man". The sequel is expected in theaters June 27, 2003.
Wendie Jo Sperber tells me that two of her Back to the Future costars, Marc McClure and Tom Wilson, will be participating in her 4th Annual Celebrity Golf Classic at the Glen Annie Golf Club in Goleta, California beginning at 8:00 AM. All proceeds from the September 21, 2002 event will benefit the weSPARK Cancer Center she founded last year. Click below for further details on the event.
Upon completion of his stint in the "Twelfth Night" production of Shakespeare in the Park on August 11, Christopher Lloyd is expected shortly thereafter to move straight into film roles in 5-25-77 and The Final Witness.
