Additional Atlantis info; Lea's Perfect Role?
More information about Fox's "Atlantis" project
I found a bit more information on the Disney animated film "Atlantis" that Michael J. Fox is supposed to provide a voice for. I hadn't thought about it yet, but it turns out that this film will be Disney's 40th full-length animated feature. Word is that there won't be any characters breaking out into song in this one, although we all know that Mike can certainly carry a tune (see "Light of Day"). Apparently this one is really supposed to be more of an adventure about the Lost City of Atlantis itself, rather than focusing more on a specific character or two, as in the tradition of most of Disney's animated features hence the title not being named after a character. Claudia Christian is also slated to provide a voice for the film, joining Fox and the as-of-yet selected multicultural cast. I'm hearing now that the film may actually be slated now for a Summer 2001 release, although I don't know
how that's going to be possible. Summer 2002 seems more of a feasible target release.
Lea's husband's next directing gig
Variety reported this morning that Howard Deutch, husband of Lea Thompson, just signed on to bring another '60s TV show, "Family Affair", to the big screen. The film is on the fast track, so expect to see this one perhaps by the end of the year. Don't know who he's planning on casting in the '90s film version, but yours truly thinks Mrs. Deutch would make the perfect "Cissy". After all, Lea looks an awful lot like Kathy Garver (see photo), plus she's worked with her director/husband many times before. He has directed several episodes of "Caroline in the City", plus he's directed her in "Article 99", the "Only Sin Deep" episode of "Tales From the Crypt", and "Some Kind of Wonderful", where they first met. Just thinkabout it, Howie...
BTTF.com status
As some of you have probably noticed, there's a few areas of this site that's not working at the present time, primarily the chatroom. On February 12, we signed up with a new ISP to transfer the site to a bigger and better location, but to date, the change has not completely taken effect at InterNIC yet. Along the way, somehow the chatroom got deinstalled too early. Anyway, this ISP change should completely take place very soon, we hope, but meanwhile, please bear with us. Also on a personal note, there probably won't be many changes to the site over the course of the next few weeks due to transitional events in my life. My wife & I are expecting the birth of our daughter any day now, plus we'll be moving into our newly constructed house in a few weeks. After things settle down finally, club operations will finally resume and we'll be back to doing business as usual. Thanks to all of you for your continued patience and to those of you who have passed along
your best wishes to me and my family.
