Zemeckis takes on Two Guys
Another Robert Zemeckis project has surfaced in the ongoing heap of projects over at ImageMovers. According to In Hollywood, Zemeckis will produce the comedy Two Guys for ImageMovers/DreamWorks. The tagline states that the story "revolves around the original story of La Cage aux folles, but in reverse." As you may recall, that film was remade in 1996 as The Birdcage, starring Robin Williams and Nathan Lane.
In other Zemeckis news, The House on Haunted Hill, produced by Zemeckis' other production company Dark Castle, recently wrapped principle photography. It is slated to be released early this Fall.
Seagram selling Universal?
According to today's Studio Briefing, Seagram chairman Edgar Bronfman Jr. may again be preparing to sell Universal's entire movie business, including the studio, theme parks and film library. Bronfman has gone on record before stating that this is not the case, but only time will tell if continued box-office failures will force Seagram to punt. The recently released ED-TV opened to mediocre business on March 26, and has only grossed about $15.4 million after 11 days in release.
