Caroline in the City debuted on NBC September 21, 1995.
Lea Thompson stars as Caroline Duffy, a cartoonist whose comic strip draws on her life experiences as a single woman in Manhattan searching for happiness. Among them: hiring an assistant (Malcolm Gets); finding herself in competition with her ex-boyfriend (Eric Lutes) to see who can recover faster from their breakup; and taking dubious advice from her eccentric neighbor (Amy Pietz) on ways to attract men. Also stars Andy Lauer as "Charlie" and Tom La Grua as "Remo".

Could Caroline and Del be through? Their relationship, which has always seemed shaky, takes a turn for the worse when last-minute attempts to plan a romantic Parisian holiday fail. While an alternative date in April is find with Caroline, Del is reluctant. "Who knows where we'll be in five months?" he asks, reminding Caroline of the commitment problem that has always been an issue. Meanwhile, Annie tries to help Richard end his relationship with the cloying Shelly by hatching a scheme that could never exist outside of a sitcom. Conclusion: Richard carries on the deception of posing as Caroline's husband -- but Caroline begins taking her role a bit too seriously.
