The team over at Mattel working on the Hot Wheels Elite line has just provided BTTF.com with an exclusive look at their upcoming Back to the Future Time Machine from their 1:43 scale "Cult Classics" Collection.
These exclusive images are of Mattel's "Tooling Model" as it stands today. Mattel was quick to point out that – as referenced on each of these images – this is not the final version of the vehicle and that there are still modifications being completed at this time.
A few key details to note include:
- The model is based on the original 1985 Time Machine (without the lightning rod or hole for the lightning rod)
- Highly detailed Time Machine Components on the exterior of the vehicle – especially on the rear deck
- Highly detailed interior – you will be able to see through the windows in the final version
The approximate dimensions of this 1:43 scale vehicle are: 4” long x 1.65” wide x 1½” high.
Limited edition – no more than 10,000 will be made.
The DMC-12 was featured in many films and on television, but is perhaps most famous for its role in the Back to the Future movie trilogy. The film series follows the adventures of teenager Marty McFly when he is blasted through time in the DeLorean time machine created by the eccentric Doc Brown. Considered one of the most successful film trilogies in movie history, the films literally changed the future of the adventure movie genre. First released in 1985 from Academy Award-winning filmmakers Steven Spielberg and Robert Zemeckis, Back to the Future and its DeLorean Time Machine became an international phenomenon.
The Hot Wheels Elite DeLorean Time Machine from the Cult Classics Collection is expected to arrive this October, but you can pre-order yours from the BTTF Time Travel Terminal today. Be sure to use coupon code ELITE at checkout to instantly save 10% off the list price!
