Well hi to anyone reading this. I'm 28 and have been a lifelong fan of this series, I'd probably go as far as saying they're my favourite movies ever.
Firstly I want to say that I wish the movie makers would stop being so scared of re-visiting old and great movies. Yes we've had a lot of lousy sequels, don't like the new Star Wars movies or the new Indiana Jones much, but even when they do get it wrong it does not take anything away from the original movies, at least they're trying. And if people don't like the results they can always go back and watch the originals time and again. I'm a huge Ghostbusters fan too and am nervously looking forward to Ghostbusters 3 being made, which brings me on to my point.
They made a great sequal to Ghostbusters in the recent game, using most of the original cast for voices they were able to set the game in the time of their choosing without having to worry about how the cast had aged and the result, in my opinion, was fantastic. So why not give it a go with our beloved Back To The Future?
I'd like to see them really stick their neck out and make a true sequal in game form. Call it Back To The Future Part 4 and release it on PS3 / Xbox. Get as many of the original cast back for the voices and have a really great story to tell, one last outing for the Delorean! I'm aware Michael is very poorly and they say not able to make another movie, which is very very sad to me as a huge fan of his, but would he be able to lend his voice to the game? Just think of how many restrictions would be removed in doing this! They could go back to any time they wanted, make the characters as old or as young as they wanted, and hey who knows, maybe set up a few new characters for a possible new movie down the line too.
I've just read a post on here which was an idea someone put forward for a possible BTTF4 plot in which Marty now lives in 2045 at the age of 70, is depressed and worried about whether or not the dimension he is living in is the correct one and wonders what ever happened to the doc. I think given that that the most hardcore fans who grew up with this series are also getting on in years it makes sense to go for a more darker and complex plot. There's so much depth to the story and characters I think with the right script they could really make something amazing. And like I say, regardless of how it turns out I would personally rather see them at least try to do something with the franchise and not just let it die, because nothing can stop me enjoying the original movies anyway.
I have no idea if this will ever get read but if anyone has any thoughts I'd love to hear them!
