Hey guys I'm back under this I.D. untill my computer is fixed again.....

Anyway... who can play Johnny B. Goode on the guitar??? I can and I can good too, I can play the entire begining up untill "Way down Louisiana....." and the solo untill the windmill part comes up (in the movie). :D

Who else can play the song? :D

i can kind of play the intro lick. working on it though!

it's a **** hard song to play.. especially the BTTF version.

The verses are some of the most easy to play (just 3 chords with very slow changes!), but as for the intro- forget it. I've spent a few years trying to learn it, but not only is there a lot to remember, it's also just too fast!

Man, I wish I could. Sadly I don't play guitar. I can play the theme song on the piano though

LonePineKath November 24th, 2003 01:58 PM

I can play the guitar, but only just! So I can't do Johnny B Goode. I can do Earth Angel though... (it's barely 4 chords!)

Jedi_McFly November 24th, 2003 04:08 PM

I play guitar, that scene is one of the reasons I started. Sadly enough though, all I know is the intro, and I kinda improv the verses. Never really looked at it more then once a while back when I first started. Nice to see other guitarists in here...

Since I never had the sheet music, I pretty much had to play it by ear. I really only like the intro of the song so that's what I play the most.

AlternateStrickland November 24th, 2003 04:23 PM

The sheet music can be found here: http://bttf.20m.com/sheet.htm

We used to cover that song but not in the tradition of Chuck Berry.
We did a cover of the cover recorded by Judas Priest.
It is an interesting twist with alot more edge and power.
Check it out sometime...

An interesting question would be can MJF still remember how to play it. He said he really wanted to finger-sync it even though the tracks were pre-recorded. In one of the behind the scenes thingies he's actually playing it in front of the guitar teacher, so he was able to get that intro at least.

Jimmy J. Mcfly November 25th, 2003 05:52 PM

Yeah, I remember that too.

However when we see him doing the duckwalk his fingers aren't moving from the top frets, but still it's the only reason why I began to play the guitar, Thanx Mikey J. Fox and BTTF!!!! :D

Good Luck, Stick with it and NEVER give up!
Playing guitar is a great way to open a creative outlet and learn to express your inner feelings.

It kept me very sane through very bad times.

The only hard part to me was stretching the fingers. It gets a bit painful but the payoff is well worth the effort. Just remember to take breaks when fatigue sets in.
In time it will be second nature and come very easy.

To start off you should try to practice at least 20 minutes everyday. with time the sessions will increase. Just go at your own pace and do it only when it's comfortable.
This is the period that makes or breaks a persons success with the instrument

And it beats piano, lol. IMHO of course...

DeLorean Freak November 25th, 2003 09:57 PM

I bug my sister every day to learn Johnny B Goode, or at least the BTTF theme on her keyboard... But of course she won't... Pfft... Non-Backies... What jerks...

Yeah, some people just don't get it. They say things like, "get a life." to which i reply, "Got One! you just aren't part of it."

I never learned Chuck Berry's version of the song but the amps don't scream enough for my taste anyway. Thank God for Judas Priest who gave us Metlers a JBG exposure that ruled!

Here Comes Biff November 27th, 2003 08:13 PM

now if someone did say get a life i would say i already have one where is yours

Whoa....Rock-n-Roll November 27th, 2003 09:16 PM

If I had more patience and more time I would LOVE to learn how to play the guitar....
