When we broke the news a couple weeks ago that Universal Studios Home Entertainment would be releasing a new Back to the Future 2-Disc DVD in February, naturally our inbox was instantly bombarded with questions, such as "How will The Ride be presented on DVD?", "Will it the Eric Stoltz footage be included?", and "Will the movies also be released on Blu-Ray at the same time?"stop
To get the official word on these pressing issues, I went directly to Writer/Producer Bob Gale for some quick answers:
How will The Ride be presented on DVD?
"Universal has edited down the Lobby Queue and Pre-Show material so that there is no padding and no repetition of anything. You can now sit down and watch it all the way through without hitting fast-forward. I think we've got a very effective presentation of the Ride Experience for the home viewing audience."
Will it the Eric Stoltz footage be included?
"No. Bob Zemeckis and I simply don't want to do something that might reflect badly on Eric. He did his best, and it just didn't work out. Someday, we'll release some of the footage...but not today."
Will the movies also be released on Blu-Ray at the same time?
"I have no idea what the Blu-ray plan is. I've heard both 2009 and 2010. So in other words, later rather than sooner."

What about the Part III extended scene of Doc offering Marty a gun in 1955 (right before he goes to 1885) and the Part III extended scene of Doc knocks on the window and tells Marty that if he can't stop his 1885 death, then to get the SOB that kills him (right before he goes to 1885)?

Sorry, but no new features are being added by Universal to Back to the Future Part II nor Back to the Future Part III for this particular DVD re-release.
