The way time travel actually could work is if you traveled back in time into a parallel world, because basically you have one world where you're born and and live your life so you don't travel back in time in that world so you're not effected so you don't endanger your existance, but in another world you could change destiny anf you may prevent your alternate self from living there, so basically you'd be just going to a parallel world a guess so you wouldn't be changing the actual destiny of your life, its just a few thoughts on my part.

But if you traveled back in time in your world you made it so your parents didn't met and you didn't exist there'd be a paradox and you wouldn't exist to go back there. But if you did this and you kept on living that would mean you just created a parallel world on your own, by you effecting destiny you created an alternate reality, which is what the bttf movies show, soo there for would there be multiple realities like parallel worlds and is time travel the way to create these parallel worlds? its just something to think about.

So would you doing this trap you in an alternate parallel worldwhere you technically don't exist? would you have found the gateway to a parallel world through time travel?

I would suppose one of two things, either you wouldn't be able to get back to the universe you started from, or there is a specific gateway through all of them to get from one to the other depending on where and what one you started from. Paralell universe theory is totally the way to go. I think that is probably how time travel really does go.

The back story:

3 million years ago Arnold Rimmer did a botched repair on Red Dwarf's drive plate the repair later blew & there was an accident resulting in the loss of all the crew, Lister was in stasis & is now the last human alive, Rimmer (according to Ace "The mans a maggot") was restored as a hologram, The Cat evolved from listers pregnant cat, which he was caught smuggling aboard, a crime he was put into stasis for, Kryten a service mechaniod rescued from a crashed ship and Holly the ships computer, who started with an IQ of 6000 but 3 million years with only herself for company has reduced it to about 6.
