I agree that the BTTF trilogy is one of the finest time travel movies ever made, but there are other movies dealing with time travel as well. For example,in some of these movies, the rules of time traveling are broken many times.
For example, in the movie Time After Time,(1979) the main character is H G Wells, who we all known wrote the classic book The Time Machine.
In this film,HG Wells time travels from 1893 to 1979 in an attempt to stop Jack The Ripper, who has stolen the time machine. What it is strange here is that the action first takes place in 1893 London and then in 1979 San Francisco.
This Time Machine not only time traveled, but it went into another country as well.If this time machine followed the rules of Doc s DeLorean,
then this machine would have traveled to the future only, not to another place in time.
Marty and Doc went only to the past and future of Hill Valley, and not to another country as happened in Time After Time. And worse,HG Wells never explained that his time machine was able to travel not only trough time and space, but to other places as well.Another classic time travel movie was Somewhere In Time, starring Superman Christopher Reeve. What he used to travel back in time was his own mind, suggesting it that it was not longer in the present but in the remote past.
What do you think of this? What do you think is the most acceptable theory about time travel?
Do you think is really possible?Or time travel will be forever a sci fi fantasy?
What is your favorite time travel movie besides the BTTF Trilogy?
