 Well since Mattel just acquired the license to create Back to the Future toys, I would say that it's all but guaranteed that we will have an authentic toy Hover Board by 2015 (as further evidence of this they just released a prop replica Ghostbusters PKE meter) however, I don't think there is even a remote chance that it will actually work, it will just be a decorative item, that has been officially manufactured.

 Look on the bonus features on B2TF2 BluRay (it might be on regular DVD copy too) it says the hoverboards used were real. They found an old warehouse (or something) full of old discontinued hoverboards. It says that they've been making them for years but weren't allowed to sell them because they were "dangerous."

@ Diggylll That interview were Zemeckis says that they used real hoverboards was just a joke. If you listen to the Gale and Canton commentary in the second film, you'll hear Bob Gale saying that the director was only joking. And if you see "The Secrets of the Back to the Future Trilogy", which can be found on both DVD and Blu-ray, you can see how they made the scene look realistic.

Seriously, I would be happy with an official, life size toy hover board from Mattel!!

Haha, oh and yes that interview was a joke, unfortunately there was no 'old warehouse' full of discontinued hoverboards- if only!

 Whatever I don't listen to the commentary. It would be AWESOME if they were real

Now, now. No need for any sour attitudes here! :)

 I would definately want to see a officailly liscened hoverboard prop. They might rip us off though. Just look at the price for the flux capacitor. If it is too expensive, I'll just stick with the hoverboard I made. I actually have youtube videos of the making of it.

If you haven't already done it, I recommend to get your pre order in soon with Mattel. I just ordered mine last night. Supposedly they say price will go up from what is is now at $120. i just wish I didn't have to wait so long, until Nov 30th when they will ship the order out. I guess I'm taking a risk also, because they still haven't perfected the design yet.
